Spicy flavor, but great for a marinade

This has been a really good seasoning for my grilled salmon and as part of a seasoning mix for marinade when I make chicken. As a seasoning it's really versatile and and flavor is fresh. I can really taste the spiciness from the chili followed by a hint of lime and a bit of saltiness to it. The dispenser is well made as I can put a little bit or a lot into what ever I'm cooking. Overall, it's a worth it for the value for money. I use it for seasoning and marinade and I like the ingredients listed of it using salicornia salt. Just note that it is pretty spicy as a good amount of the taste comes from the paprika and chili.

A Delicious Blend for Soups and Vegetables

I've really enjoyed cooking with this chili lime seasoning. I've used it mostly in homemade soups and on stir fried vegetables, and it adds a delicious combination of mild heat and citrus acidity that brings the flavors together without overpowering the dish. It definitely has a noticeable kick, but I wouldn't consider it overly spicy. The heat is well balanced with the lime.Although it's marketed for tacos and vegetables, I've found it to be versatile enough for a variety of everyday cooking, and I can easily see it working well on chicken, rice, roasted corn and potatoes, or as a finishing seasoning for other savory dishes. At around eight dollars at the time of this review, I think it's a good value for the money. A little goes a long way, so the bottle should last through plenty of meals. If you're looking for a flavorful seasoning with a balanced level of spice, lime flavor, and less sodium than traditional blends, this is a good choice.

Nice little kick

This is a great seasoning that adds a good amount of lime flavor and hint of spice. I love spicy so bring it on! I have 3 different blends from this brand and this lime chili is my second favorite. I like the low sodium, plant based ingredients with zero calories. I think you have to use less of this seasoning blend compared to some of the others offered by the brand so the jar will last me a good amount of time. The price is pretty comparable to other brands but because of the quality of the glass jar and lid I think the value is better for this. I made grilled chicken and added it to a salad which was a big hit with my guys. I want to try it in tacos or quesadillas next. I’ll continue to buy from this brand.

Makes for a good popcorn season.

Glass shaker with wood lid came wrapped in bubble wrap. The marketed printing presented professionally. It tastes tart from the lemon. The paprika doesn't disappoint on that earthy note. The Spiciness of chili kicks a bit of heat. The 3 seasonings mix well together. I use it for a multitude of recipes but I love this one for snacking on fruits and veggies like cucumbers, watermelon, mangos, peaches, and it is amazing on pineapple! My mouth is watering right now thinking of it. Per 1/4 teaspoon it's only 2% daily sodium and it satisfies that sweet and salty craving for me. I think this is a wonderful low sodium option for my heart healthy diet. Priced at $7.99.

A bit too salty for my liking.

There is indeed a strong lime scent as well as taste in this bottle of seasoning. The following are some initial first impressions.Pros- Strong line sent as well as taste in the powdered seasoning.- I would rate spiciness a seven out of 10. Just be sure to test it in small amounts especially for young children first.- Seasoning powder itself did not arrive clumpy. In my humid climate this is a plus.Cons- None observed at this time. However if freshness deteriorates over time I will be sure to update this review.Very versatile and healthy bottle of mildly spicy seasoning. Overall, I do recommend it.

Surprisingly tasty!

I love chili and lime, but was dubious about how much I'd enjoy a low sodium version. This stuff has completely exceeded my expectations! I've put it on everything from broiled chicken to popcorn, and the salicornia is an absolute triumph! It doesn't taste like it's "missing" anything the way some low sodium options can. It's flavorful, and the lime and chili are well balanced. While I do tend to like a somewhat higher heat level, that's honestly something I can always augment with additional spices - for most people this is probably a mild-to-medium intensity. It's not caked or clumped at all so far, and it tastes really good in a lot of settings. Definitely keeping this in the front of the spice cabinet!

Hot chili zing

This chili lime seasoning has a good hot pepper spicy flavor. It's low in sodium, in case you're watching your salt intake, and as a result it's not as salty as almost any other seasoning mix I use. While the chili flavor definitely shows through, the other dominant flavor is a lemony citrus flavor more than lime. I don't think this seasoning could be a single solution for something like taco meat; it lacks the depth (and saltiness) for that kind of flavor. I added it to a tomato-based salsa in order to give the salsa some spiciness as well as lime, and it did fine in that regard. This seasoning comes with simple, straightforward ingredients. It flowed freely through the shaker top without clumping or hardening. Another thing I like is the bamboo lid, which helps the jar stand out in my crowded spice pantry.

Mild seasoning

If you're familiar with tajin, this stuff is very similar in flavor to that. It's mildly spicy with a hint of sour. I was expecting more of a punch considering it's "chili lime seasoning". It's not very salty either, which is expected since it says low sodium. I find the ingredients confusing because the first ingredient is "spices". Uh yeah, this is a seasoning, Of course there are spices. But which ones?? What if I need to avoid one of them?Due to the mild flavors in this, you can probably use it on a wider variety of dishes, making this a bit more versatile than if it was punchy. The size is comparable with my other spice jars and fits in my spice rack just fine. I saw no clumping in my jar. It's easy to shake out. At the time of this review the price was $6.39, which seems reasonable.

Did a taste test; this stuff held its own

The flavor combo of chili-lime-salt is basically a food group for me. It goes on everything; avocado toast, rice and beans, tostadas, tacos. This seasoning is indistinguishable from more popular name brands, but without the sodium-rich baggage. The spiciness is well balanced with acidity and savory flavor notes. I am very pleased with the quality, and appreciate the low-sodium approach of using salicornia. Note that salicornia adds salts and savory qualities, but the difference is that the salts are not entirely sodium.

Spicy, flavorful, strong, salty - but contains no lime!

This chili lime seasoning is really flavorful, powerful, and has some spicy heat to it! It comes in a glass jar (no plastic) with shaker top and wood-like lid. There is actually no traditional salt in this product! The “saltiness” comes from salicornia salt, which is from a succulent plant. However, I would never know this by tasting the saltiness of the spice.I was surprised to see there is no lime in this seasoning! It contains chili, paprika, citric acid, and lemon powder. I do love my lime flavored food products, so I believe I’d like this better if it did actually contain lime. The seasoning melts in your mouth and into the food. I will be using it on chicken mostly, but I’ll probably venture into other meat products as well.

Just use regular chili powder and fresh lime??

Not bad, especially if you’re watching your sodium intake. It just doesn’t have the depth or full enough flavor profile to really be a stand alone seasoning except for maybe on elote or jicama, that type of stuff. It’s more of a topper and it doesn’t have a very salty flavor to it either, so if you’re hoping to have that craving satisfied it might not do the trick. I don’t really see me reaching for this when chili powder and a squeeze of fresh lime gives an even better/fresher effect- also without the salt or just go light on it! Not very spicy. Also, the “lime” flavor is actually lemon powder so it’s kinda more bitter than zesty. Not wowed by this and don’t really understand the point of it if it’s not satisfying a salt craving nor tasting all that unique.

Good option for low-sodium, but the overall flavor wasn't my favorite

The SaltWise Chili Lime Seasoning came nicely packaged in an attractive glass jar with a bamboo lid. It was sealed for freshness below the lid, and a shaker insert is included. The size of the jar is typical for spices. I was not all that excited about the flavor of this spice blend. It does have a strong lemon taste from the citric acid and lemon powder. I'm curious why it's labeled as "chili lime" when it's actually chili lemon. It has a good amount of heat from the chili, and it is quite salty tasting despite its low sodium level. I think this would be a good option for people who need to keep their sodium intake low. Unfortunately, there was also an odd flavor that reminded me of tea leaves--a bit earthy, perhaps a dried herb of some sort? It was not a flavor I look for in my Mexican spice blends. While I love to see people making innovative products with new ingredients like Salicornia Salt, this particular blend did not taste delicious to me.

Subtle, sneaky spice

This seasoning is kind of subtle. I ended up adding a little more. The spice sneaks up on you and then your mouth is burning a little bit. It's a good flavor. A little spicy with a hint of a little citrus. It's definitely not a very salty taste. I did end up adding just a little bit of salt, but I like that I have less salt on my food. It's about the same price as other low sodium seasonings. This brand is kind of unique in the ingredients that it uses, so it's hard to compare it to anything else. I have several types of seasoning from this brand, and it's a pretty good quality.

Very bold chili and lime flavors, but lacks in "taco seasoning" flavor.

With 1/4 of the sodium as traditional Chili lime taco seasoning this is a great option for those who are conscious of sodium intake but don't want to sacrifice food flavor. The flavor is definitely bold and has quite a kick. It does not taste "bad", but the spice is pretty strong and somewhat overpowering. I also noticed a slightly bitter aftertaste that reminded me more of lime rind than lime juice. Between the kick and the rind aftertaste, I did not really pick up much of a traditional taco seasoning taste. Personally, I think this would work better as a seasoning for grilled chicken,or seasoned rice to go in your taco, rather than as the main seasoning for tacos. The main downside is the bottle durability. One of my SaltWise seasoning bottles arrived with the bottom shattered, and this bottle had a visible line near the glass where it looked either cracked or the glass was not fused properly. That makes me a little cautious, especially since broken glass and loose seasoning can create a big mess and make the seasoning unusable.A little bit goes a long way so the 2.6oz sized bottle will provide you with enough seasoning for numerous dishes. I also like the visual appearance these bottles have with the wooden lid. They look great on a spice rack.Overall, the seasoning is bold in flavor and very sodium-conscious, but I don’t know if I would recommend it for someone wanting to make traditional tacos or that doesn’t like their food with a little kick to it. The glass bottles are the big concern. I honestly recommend transferring this seasoning into a more durable seasoning bottle once you get it.

Taste good

I used this seasoning on chicken and roasted vegetables, and it added a nice balance of chili and lime flavor. The citrus notes make it taste fresh, while the chili gives it a little kick without being too spicy. I also appreciate that it’s lower in sodium, so I can season food generously without it tasting overly salty. It’s a versatile blend that’s easy to use for tacos, grilled meats, veggies, and even snacks like popcorn. A great pantry staple if you enjoy bold flavors.

For light seasoning without salt

I bought this to add some low sodium spice to my meals. I like the flavor, and you can taste the chili and the lime both pretty well. I used just a little at first and became generous with later meals. It is not too spicy, just gives a little touch of zing. Also, you should not use a lot of it, not because it's hot (it isn't), but because if you use a lot, you start to taste the silica (essentially it will taste a little sandy). It seems a good quality, it isn't too spicy, and it can be used in a variety of dishes. It is a reasonable value for the money as spices go.

Low sodium but doesn't taste like it

We picked this up mainly to cut back on sodium for some sensitive family members, but without losing flavor, especially for taco night and roasted vegetables. So far it's been a pretty solid swap for regular seasoning salt and can be used for many different foods. The chili lime combo is well balanced and the lime comes through first, then a mild heat that builds a little but never overwhelms. We've used it on grilled corn, roasted sweet potatoes, and a batch of black bean tacos, and it worked well in all three. It's not a one-note "salty" seasoning, which makes sense given it leans on plant-based salicornia salt instead of straight sodium chloride. We have noticed texture is a bit finer than we expected, so a light hand is needed at first. It's easy to over-season since it distributes so evenly. Takes a little getting used to if you're used to coarser blends. Once you get the feel for it, though, it's easy to dial in.The 2.3 oz container is a good size for keeping in a spice rack without taking up much room, and it seals well enough that nothing's clumped after a few weeks of regular use. No MSG, non-GMO, and gluten free are all accurate to what's on the label, for anyone checking that before buying. For the flavor and the lower sodium angle, it feels like a reasonable value. It's not the cheapest seasoning out there, but it's earned a permanent spot next to our regular salt.

Hard to believe it's low sodium!

I'm always looking to cut back on sodium without giving up flavor, and this chili lime blend does the job. It uses salicornia for the traditional "salt" taste, bright citrus, and fresh herbs to create a flavor that isn't overly spicy or sour. Great with pretty much anything, including a cocktail glass rim, the texture is great, it doesn't clump up, and a little bit goes a long way!

Yummy!

I use this on a lot of different things and the chili lime combination is really well-balanced without being too sharp or too mild. The low-sodium aspect is important to me, and you honestly cannot tell anything is missing because the other flavors are strong enough to carry the blend. I have tried it on popcorn, avocado, fruit, grilled chicken, and roasted vegetables, and it works across all of them without tasting out of place. The heat level is mild enough for everyday use but still present enough to be interesting. The jar is a reasonable size and lasts well with regular use. A versatile and flavorful seasoning that has become a regular in my kitchen.

Terrific citrusy spice blend

This was one of my favorite seasoning blends from this brand. The chili adds a mild to moderate spiciness, but the lime flavor is what really stands out. It's bright, fresh, and noticeable enough that it doesn't disappear once it's on food.I've used it on roasted vegetables, tacos, refried beans, mixed into salsa, and sprinkled over elote. It's a very versatile blend that works well anywhere you want a little heat and citrus flavor. The seasoning has a fine, even texture that distributes easily over food, and the ingredients taste fresh and well balanced. Like the other SaltWise blends I've tried, it uses plant-based salicornia salt to reduce the sodium content while still delivering plenty of flavor. I never felt like I needed to add extra salt.At $9.99, it's a little more expensive than I'd normally spend on a seasoning blend, but the quality and flavor are excellent. I'd probably watch for a sale or Subscribe & Save discount, but I'd still buy it again.

A Low-Sodium Seasoning That Doesn’t Sacrifice Flavor

I’ve been trying to reduce the amount of sodium in my diet, so I was excited to try this seasoning—and it exceeded my expectations. Too often, low-sodium products end up tasting bland, but that definitely isn’t the case here. The chili and lime flavors are bright, fresh, and well balanced. It adds a delicious tangy kick to tacos, grilled chicken, roasted vegetables, and rice without making the food taste overly salty. I even sprinkled some on fresh avocado, and it was fantastic.I also appreciate that it’s made with plant-based Salicornia salt and contains no MSG or unnecessary additives. It’s reassuring to find a seasoning that’s both flavorful and made with quality ingredients. This has quickly become one of the spice blends I reach for most often, and I can see myself buying it again. If you’re trying to cut back on sodium without giving up bold, satisfying flavor, I highly recommend giving this one a try.
