I am very pleased with this salt substitute!

I am very pleased with this salt substitute! It has a strong salty taste, (even though it actually has less sodium chloride) so it doesn’t take very much to achieve the same amount of saltiness as table salt.

Great Low-Sodium Salt Alternative

Really impressed with the flavor. It tastes great without being overly salty and works especially well for sautéing vegetables, seasoning meat, or grilling. Definitely something I’ll keep using.

Wow! So glad I found this product!

I was pleasantly surprised by Saltwise. I have Hypertension and had never heard of Salicornia. By chance, I ran across this product online, decided to take a chance, and WOW! I expected it to be the same as all the other salt substitutes I’ve tried over the last few weeks. All of which have been bitterly disappointing. I honestly expected Saltwise to be the same. Boy, was I wrong!. I’m amazed how much it actually tastes like regular table salt, and it has made cutting back on sodium so much easier.

My order was packed very carefully, which I really appreciated. The shipment arrived quickly, in just a few days. They were out of one of the products I ordered, but instead of simply leaving it out, they included a little bonus surprise. What a nice touch!

Great product, thoughtful company, and a wonderful alternative for anyone trying to reduce their sodium intake without giving up the taste of salt. A wonderful find for a salt addict like me. I will definitely be ordering again!

When I ordered I was only expecting to receive 2 pouches of low sodium alternative to salt. I was pleasantly surprised to open the package and find that, along with a really well made large canvas shopping bag, a good-sized sample pack of the green version of this salt (which is less processed), recipe cards and an information pack telling me all about this brand. When tasting the green salt first, compared to my usual sea salt flakes, I found the flavour was nothing like real salt. It has a grassy, earthy taste and dry powdery texture that I wasn’t keen on for sprinkling on top of meals. However, this flavour is not detected when replacing salt during cooking.Moving on to the white salt alternative, compared to regular table salt, I think anyone would be really hard-pressed to notice any difference at all in taste and texture. The texture is much the same as table salt, but is finer than sea salt flakes or crystals. It’s definitely good enough to use both during cooking and sprinkled directly on top of meals. This is a really useful product for anyone who loves the taste of salt, but may be trying to reduce their intake of sodium.

Despite it saying you get 2 packs of 200g salicornia salt, you also get a small 30g pack of green salt (free sample) and a tote bag. The tote bag has the SaltWise branding on one side and 'I need vitamin sea' on the other side. Although freebies are always welcome, I still think this salt is expensive. It contains less sodium, is plant-based and 100% natural. It can be used in cooking and as a seasoning like regular salt.Unless you're really into the brand, how this salt is made, or the specific health benefits you get from it, you can find low-sodium salt elsewhere.

As you can see in the pictures, this product is well packaged and looks great to even give as a gift for someone's kitchen. It comes with a leaflet explaining who they are, and what is beneficial about vegetarian salt.I have used the salt on a good number of occasions. It is already "grinded" so would not go well in a grinding salt shaker. I am unsure about the long term benefits, but I as a vegetarian appreciate the fact that this does taste like real salt and has health benefits compared to regular sea salt. The only thing that I would give new customers getting this product advanced notice, is that it is very concentrated. The first time I used this when I was cooking, I put in about the same amount that I would with regular sea salt, and my food came out very salty. So you will need to do a little trial and error, but the taste is good.Good recommendation for your own kitchen, or as a gift.

This salt tastes really nice and is a fab low-sodium alternative. I like that it’s packed with natural minerals from the Salicornia plant, so you’re getting a little extra goodness while still keeping your food tasty. It’s a bit pricey at £22.07 for 2, but it comes with a tote bag and a little green salt taster, which is a fun bonus. Just wish it had a grinder or spoon, as it’s easy to sprinkle a bit too much.I received this product for free through the Amazon Vine programme.

Having heard various "sound bytes" re:- "Healthier Salt" in the media I was pleased to be offered the opportunity to review this "Premium Healthy Salt" on behalf of the Amazon Vine Programme because this "Saltwise Healthy Salt" is claimed to only have just half the sodium of common salt. This Low Sodium Salt Substitute apparently comprises of a plant-based mineral salt, hence can be described as a natural product;- as can "common salt". The salt arrived attractively packaged in the style of a "gift box" with some extras that I hadn't anticipated. The extras included a canvas shopping bag and an attractively designed small metal salt shaker for use at the dining table. Unfortunately when I removed the base cap of the shaker to put some salt in an unpleasant smell reminiscent of a metal polish exuded from within the shaker. I've subsequently left the shaker to soak in warm soapy water, and will check to see if the unpleasant smell has cleared in a few more days. I have now used some of the low sodium salt in my vegetarian cooking and whilst I cannot truthfully say that I could taste any difference to my cooking as a result, I'm prepared to be optimistic and at least tell myself that I have presumably consumed less potassium than if I had simply used "common salt" as I ordinarily do. Considering that this "low sodium salt substitute" is supposed to help me to:- (quote) "Choose wellness, a healthier way to eat" (end of quote) as is implied in the information contained in the listing for this product on the Amazon website it's disappointing that the only two "recipe" cards bundled in with the salt substitute are for "chicken wings" and "beef burgers". In my opinion such foods do not suggest a way to "choose wellness, a happier way to eat". Nevertheless, despite what I consider to be "muddled and mixed messaging" from the company promoting this salt substitute to help achieve a "healthier way of living", I did enjoy the results of using this salt in my own cooking.

This came with a tote bag and extra sachet of green salt. Move had about 20 months before the BBE date. The tote bag is sturdy, a good size and decent quality. The white salt is less than half the sodium of normal table salt with high potassium and some magnesium. This alone makes it a much healthier alternative but there may also be some benefits from the trace elements. The salt is granular but the grains are a little coarser then normal table salt. The taste is very much like table salt and probably a little stronger so you can use less of it.The green salt is also lower in sodium and has a more subtle taste. It's also a powder rather than granular and more suited to being used as a flavour enhancer in cooking rather than just straight up salt.At the time of review this was around £24 which is clearly very expensive. Given the extras the value starts to look better, but unless you are into the origins of the product and the potential extra health benefits, much cheaper low sodium products are available.

Very happy to have tried this product and would reorder! I am trying hard after a diagnosis to cut down on sodium levels and have tried a few alternatives as well as training my taste buds to accept less salty foods. This is great as it is made from Samphire, a type of seaweed. This means that it still contains salt, sea salt mainly which overall is slightly better than rock salt anyway. It also includes other minerals such as magnesium but when using such tiny quantities to flavour food, extra benefits are negligible. The ‘salt’ level achieved by a good pinch in cooking is similar to my usual sea salt and therefore, despite the high price, it will last for some time. There is no seaweed/fishy taste! It even looks similar to salt once refined. It was definitely worth ordering the 2 bag pack in one go as it is far better value. Also came with a tote bag and a sample of the dried natural product ie seaweed and instructions/details about the company.
