I really like Green Salt

I really like Green Salt. It tastes perfect, it is healthy, and I can salt things on my plate to hearts content. However, I mad a big pot of vegetable soup and could not get it salted with Green Salt. Would have had to use too much and it is expensive with shipping. So just gonna top off my chicken & fish with it and be glad I have it.

Excellent Salt Replacement!

I made the perfect dish to try out this green salt—Oil-Free Vegan Spinach and Mushroom Pasta. I did have to use a bit more of the green salt than I might have with regular salt, but it was still much less sodium and tasted fantastic! No weird flavor or texture!!

great salicornia salt!

the saltwise green salt is quite umami flavored, but I cook a lot of Asian fusion so I think it seasons quite well. The contents and size of the packet is a good amount which is a good value for the price and investment in your future health. I’ve already tried the saltwise white salicornia salt which tastes very good on any food. I will buy it again!

Very salty, like actual salt, with some nondescript herbiness

This was my first experience with green salt. It will definitely give you all the saltiness you need. Don't even try to taste it straight, it's as salty as tasting salt straight. However it also has a nondescript herbiness. You know how if you were to grab a ground up dried herb 10 years out of date from your spice rack, it would not taste bad—it would simply taste like pretty much nothing? This salt is that inoffensive herby nothing + all the saltiness of salt. It's a little bit oceany too, but again, nondescript. I can't even call it similar to kelp. Overall I am very pleased. The only thing that I didn't enjoy is that it's a bit dusty. Since it's a very fine grind.I'd have no hesitation recommending this to anyone to try at least once. The price seems comparable with other green salt on Amazon. And it'd be unfair to price this against regular, ubiquitous salt, since you're getting a novel salt that is healthier for you and is even a dinner conversation piece.

Takes getting used to

This healthy salt isn't bad, but not quite what I expected in flavor or texture. It's mostly very powdery with a few courser pieces that I'm guessing we're stems. The fine texture makes it a bit challenging to guage how much to put on/in your food. It does have a somewhat salty taste and I think would make a decent replacement if you need low sodium but I think I will mostly stick to pink Himalayan salt as I prefer that flavor and texture.

The saltiness is there but sea greens is dominant.

I'm trying to cut down on my sodium intake due to high blood pressure. When I saw this product with 50% less sodium than common salt, I decided to try it. The first smell and then taste reminded me of what the package and product information says; it's a sea green plant. The taste has thine hint of saltiness that I want, but also an intense greens taste. Reminds me of green water or other green dominant products, like smoothies. Putting it on food takes some of the greenness away, while leaving the hint of saltiness. It's a bit powdery to sprinkle out of a shaker, and cannot really use fingers for the same reason, as it sticks. Will need so spoon our and risk overdoing it. In my case, the reduction in sodium intake will be worth it. Is definitely going to be an acquired taste.

Well Who Woulda Thought?

I had never heard of this before, but I love salty foods so I figured why not give this a try? Well to my surprise this plant actually tastes salty and also healthy. It’s delicious! I have been sprinkling it on all of my savory dishes now and I am loving it. It has a green flavor to it and I mean that in a good way. It’s so fun to be able to make my meals taste salty with a new ingredient that is plant based and is rich in vitamins and minerals. It’s a definite win.

Salt alternative

Salicornia is a vegetable that grows by the sea. When made into a polder form, It can be used as a salt alternative. It is filled with essential minerals and has less salt which is healthier than table salt in general. It’s green in color and tastes salty that reminds me of seafood. I use it with sushi vinegar to make rice balls. Taste pretty good and my kids approve it.

Taste a bit like a herbal supplement

This Salicornia Green Salt substitute is made purely of the Salicornia plant. This plant is known to grow salt marches, so it absorbs a lot of salt from the environment. It has a smell and a taste of an herbal supplement, so don't expect a pure salty taste. This product claims to have a lot less sodium than standard salt. But you will need to use more of it because it is noticeably less salty. It definitely has more of other microelements and some vitamins. I would not recommend using it for cooking since you will need a lot. But it works well for garnishing salads. The product is manufactured in India. It arrived with a year and a half of shelf life.

Salty, But Full of Vitamins and Good for the Planet Also

Salicornia appears to have a great number of health benefits, one of which is its use as a salt substitute with less impact than salt on blood pressure. This package is a finely ground dried Salicornia which creates a cloud of dust when the resealable bag is opened. Since it is so fine, it’s a good candidate for transferring to a shaker to help control the amount used. It tastes very “salty”, but also has a very mild green or grassy flavor. It’s barely noticeable on something mild like rice, so on fish or vegetables it should disappear. I’m excited to use this, but wish there was some guidance on how to substitute it in recipes that call for salt because it is much more fine, and possible potent, than salt granules. The company has a social justice and environmental basis to their business which is a bonus. I’m happy with the quality of this product and excited to try it in more things.

I stumbled upon Saltwise plant-based salt while on the hunt for a low sodium salt and seasoning. This stuff isn't just good for you; it's delicious. Plus, knowing it's low in sodium adds an extra layer of goodness. If you're looking for a natural, flavourful alternative to traditional salt, this is it. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

Glad that I made the switch

I was looking for low sodium salt. While Salicornia salt is used in Korea etc. there is no credible source in US. I am glad that I gave Saltwise a chance. The product is flaky and light and hence I had to put more than common salt. Awesome Product - Will buy again !

Liking it so far!

Used it twice so far. Both times on salads. I like it. With it, I can use garlic powder instead of garlic salt.

Disappointed in best by date

Disappointed in best by date, but the product is great that is why rated 5 stars. I really like this product. I have been using for 1 year. I ordered two bags this month (September 2026). Ordered through Amazon but it was shipped from Saltwise. I received my 2 bags 9/21/26. I am disappointed that the best by date on both bags is DEC 2026. There is no way I will use not even 1 bag by DEC 2026.
